Purpose
Explain how to use the Resource Costs module to manage baseline cost, WBS-specific overrides and tenant-side economic simulations.
Prerequisites
- an authorised tenant role for the
Resource Costsmodule - users and projects already present in the tenant
- a valid date window for baseline costs and overrides
What the module is for
The module is split into two operational areas:
- a different cost for a specific WBS or period
- override reason
- optional or required note depending on the case
- impact simulation before applying the change
Operational steps
- Open
Resource Costsfrom the workspace. - Update or confirm the baseline cost for the relevant people.
- Move to
Overrideswhen a project requires a different cost from the baseline. - Select person, WBS, validity period and override reason.
- Run a simulation if you want to verify the economic delta before saving.
- Save the override and check any anomaly or overlap warning.
Expected result
The tenant keeps a coherent and auditable cost model, with project-specific differences without losing the general baseline.
Common errors
- Override cannot be applied
- cause: invalid dates, missing WBS or non-numeric cost
- solution: check period, project and amount before saving
- Unexpected simulation result
- cause: there are already active overrides or the person's baseline differs from what you expected
- solution: review existing overrides and filter by person or WBS
- Anomaly on an open override
- cause: the override is unusually high, stale or tied to an archived project
- solution: use anomaly filters and close or correct overrides that are no longer coherent
FAQ
Is the baseline cost lost when I create an override?
No. An override is a scoped exception for a project and period; the baseline stays available.
Can I import data in bulk?
Yes, if the tenant uses the module CSV flow and the role has the required permissions.
