Purpose

Explain how to use the Validation Rules module to configure timesheet thresholds, weekend rules, overtime rules and tenant-side blocks.

• an authorised tenant governance role
• a basic understanding of the company's time policy

What the module governs

The active rules affect timesheet behaviour:

• daily soft threshold and hard threshold
• weekly soft threshold and hard threshold
• weekend entry permission
• daily weekend hour limit
• whether overtime is allowed
• overtime day/week thresholds
• required note in the relevant cases

Operational steps

1. Open Validation Rules.
2. Review the policy-first summary to distinguish warning from block.
3. Update daily and weekly thresholds in line with company policy.
4. Decide whether weekend and overtime entries are allowed, limited or require a note.
5. Save the changes.
6. Verify that the expected behaviour is also understandable for end users in Timesheet.

Expected result

The tenant keeps readable and coherent validation rules, reducing opaque warnings and unexpected blocks in timesheets.

Common errors

• A soft threshold exceeds the hard threshold
• cause: inconsistent configuration
• solution: the recommended threshold must stay equal to or lower than the hard limit

• Weekend entry is blocked even though the user sees other rows on the same day
• cause: controls aggregate multiple rows for the same day or week
• solution: read the summary and verify the aggregated total, not only the single row

• Users keep asking why entries are blocked
• cause: the policy is too strict or not aligned with the way the tenant actually works
• solution: review thresholds, note requirements and internal operating communication

FAQ

Does changing these rules modify historical data?

No. The rules affect future validation behaviour; they do not rewrite data already saved.

Are warning and block the same thing?

No. A warning signals a recommended threshold exceeded; a block prevents save or submission.
